Olof Palme
Olof Palme (1927–86) early became an organized social democrat and was a member of the Swedish Parliament from 1957 to 1986. He became Minister of Transport and Communications in 1965, and Minister of Education in 1967. In 1969, he was elected chairman of the Social Democratic Party and thereby became Swedish Prime Minister, which he was during two periods until his assassination in 1986.
